About Us

We are committed to developing projects that are not only outstanding in today's market, but will remain so for many years. The company was established in 1989 and specializes in the development of commercial buildings, senior housing, financial underwriting, and historic preservation. We can assist you in the process of site identification, rezoning and permit approvals, site design/engineering, building design, architectural services, and partnership structuring.

Who are We?

Mark Leatherwood is a principal and founder of LW Associates and is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. Mark has backgrounds in construction and engineering and has a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Ohio State University.  Mark is uniquely qualified to direct our design and construction divisions.

David Skomorowski is a principal and co-founder of the firm and is also an OSU MBA graduate. David's education and background in lending and finance support his leadership of the company's project development and finance functions.

Andrew Whapham is LW's General Manager, and principal and CEO of Community Investment Management Services (CIMS), a related property management company. Andrew's experience and education in real estate development, finance. management and marketing serves him in these roles.

Elizabeth Herzog is the company's Development and Administrative Director, and an OSU MBA graduate. Beth fulfills the firm's development and financial underwriting functions, oversees administrative services, and manages investor and lender relations.

Lou Keefer is LW's Construction Director.  Lou brings more than thirty years of construction experience to his daily management of all aspects of our construction division.

Todd Valentine is LW's Development Coordinator and a graduate of Ohio University. Todd facilitates local jurisdiction functions related to zoning, annexation, permitting and plan reviews and approvals.
